It was founded by the Iraqi politician and former trade minister Mohamed al-Karbouli and is now owned and led by Ali al-Zaidi, who acquired the channel from its founder. The station works from Amman in Jordan, broadcasts in Arabic and takes its name from the Dijlah, the Arabic name of the Tigris, the river that runs through Baghdad.
