Chamber TV is a Luxembourgish free-to-air television channel operating in the parliamentary and public affairs format. The primary languages of broadcasting are Luxembourgish and French. The channel was launched on December 4, 2001, and is owned and operated by the Chamber of Deputies (the national legislature of Luxembourg), under the direction of the President of the Chamber . It is the official parliamentary television channel of Luxembourg . The channel aims to provide transparency and access to the legislative process for all citizens of the Grand Duchy .
On air, Chamber TV broadcasts live coverage and recordings of the activities and proceedings of the Chamber of Deputies, the unicameral national parliament of Luxembourg . This includes all public sessions where deputies debate and vote upon laws, which have been broadcast live in their entirety since December 2001 . The channel also broadcasts other parliamentary events, such as the deposit of the budget, certain public hearings (notably those concerning European policy issues), and the presentation of the annual report of the Ombudsman .
Beyond live coverage of plenary sessions, Chamber TV has enriched its program offerings. Since the beginning of 2005, it has broadcast a weekly program called "Chamber aktuell". This program, produced in an external professional studio since 2008, includes thematic dossiers, reports, interviews, and round tables related to national and European parliamentary news . The channel also broadcasts documentaries and reports on the activities of deputies . The channel produces its broadcasts with six remote-controlled cameras installed in the session hall and a complete control room within the parliament building .
In a major step towards transparency in 2024, the Chamber of Deputies began live streaming commission sessions, which are not broadcast on the main Chamber TV channel due to scheduling conflicts. These sessions, including commissions for media, agriculture, housing, environment, and education, are made available via live stream on the official Chamber of Deputies website (chd.lu) .
Chamber TV is available via cable and satellite throughout the Grand Duchy, allowing every citizen to potentially receive it . It is also available via livestream on the official website of the Chamber of Deputies . The channel uses footage that is made available to any interested television channel, and no external cameras are permitted in the session hall .
Chamber TV strives to be an open window into the political life of Luxembourg, fostering civic engagement by making the work of elected deputies transparent and accessible . The mission of the channel is to provide citizens with the opportunity to directly observe the legislative process, from plenary debates to committee hearings, thereby promoting greater understanding of and participation in the democratic process.
