CGTN Arabic is an international news television channel operating under China Global Television Network (CGTN), a subsidiary of China Central Television (CCTV) and part of the state-owned China Media Group . The channel broadcasts entirely in the Arabic language and is headquartered in Beijing, China . It was launched on July 25, 2009, under the name CCTV-Arabic, becoming the fifth international channel from CCTV, and was rebranded to its current name on December 31, 2016 .

On air, CGTN Arabic aims to serve as a bridge between China and the Arab world, with a mission to "introduce the real China" to Arabic-speaking audiences . The programming is built on a schedule of rolling news coverage, cultural features, documentaries, and entertainment. The channel describes its editorial mission as having three core goals: to introduce China to Arab audiences, to present the Chinese viewpoint on international and Arab issues, and to cover joint Chinese-Arab activities . The flagship news program is the daily news bulletin, which covers regional and international events, supported by correspondents based in bureaus across eight Arab countries, including a regional hub in Dubai, UAE, which serves as the channel's Middle East and North Africa bureau .

Beyond hard news, the schedule includes several distinctive programs. "Dialogue" is a political talk show that highlights regional issues from a Chinese perspective, hosted by journalist Li Gang who previously served as a correspondent covering the Syrian crisis . "Speaking of China" (also known as "Words of China") is a cultural program exploring Chinese civilization and language . The channel also produces "National Treasures" (Kunouz Wataneya), a documentary show highlighting antiquities found in China's imperial palaces . Other regular offerings include documentaries, travelogues titled "Travel in China," and drama series (Chinese television shows dubbed into Arabic) as well as Chinese language learning programs . The channel employs a dedicated team of Arabic-speaking hosts, including notable presenters such as Zhang Lu, Fei Yuanyuan, and Egyptian journalist Mustafa Kafafi, who joined the network in 2025 to anchor news bulletins .

CGTN Arabic is available across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and globally via satellite and cable platforms. The channel broadcasts on key satellites serving the region, most notably Arabsat and Nilesat, with a technical reach potentially covering up to 300 million viewers in 22 Arab countries . The channel can be found on leading satellite operators such as Badr 8 and Eutelsat 7 West A. Viewers can watch online the live broadcast of CGTN Arabic through the official CGTN Arabic website and the main CGTN mobile application . CGTN Arabic broadcasts in high definition (1080i HDTV) with a 16:9 widescreen format, ensuring that its Arabic-language news and cultural programming reaches audiences across the Arab world and the global diaspora wherever they are .
