The channel was founded on August 27, 1994, by Pastor Dr. Luis Fernando Solares Balsells and is owned by the Iglesia de Jesucristo La Familia de Dios (The Church of Jesus Christ The Family of God). It is operated by the Ministerio de Motivación Cristiana de Guatemala, and its studios are located on Calzada Roosevelt in Guatemala City. The channel holds the distinction of being the first 24-hour Christian broadcaster in Guatemala.

On air, Canal 27 broadcasts a mix of live worship services, Bible teachings, movies, music, and family-oriented entertainment, all designed to promote Christian values and the message of salvation.
