Budapest Európa Televízió online television
Budapest Európa Televízió is a Hungarian channel whose history reads like a survival report. It began broadcasting in 1995 under a two-letter name taken from the initials of its founder, which audiences read as the name of the capital, and that reading became official. Carriage ran first over a city microwave system, then over a satellite from 3 May 2001. Rather than selling the breaks between programmes, the station rented screen time to producers who brought their own shows, so paid-telephone fortune-tellers filled the daytime. Debts followed, then a liquidation attempt by a foreign creditor in 2006, a trustee in April 2009, disconnection from the cable networks at midnight on 30 August 2009, a return on 4 September 2009 under the name it carries today, a studio fire on 29 October 2009 and online-only distribution ever since.
The station calls itself the religious channel of community denominations and its motto promises it always gives something. The grid says what that means in hours: chapters from the Bible at 07:15, a midday service at 11:50 and an evening service at 19:50, Hungarian song at noon, an opera hour on Monday at 20:00, a request show from 20:00 to 22:00 in memory of a late popular artist, a children slot at 18:45, a Roma show on Saturday, a crime series at 14:00 with a retired officer and a music club after midnight. The historic day ran from 08:00 to 01:00, with advertising and a text screen between.
The signal arrives through a session relay: the master list declares one rung at 720x576 and 680 142 bits per second, the media list carries six segments of about six seconds, and a measured segment matched the declared rate.
