BTV News online television

BTV News is the news channel of the Cambodian broadcaster Bayon Television, which launched in January 1998 as the country's second private station and its first UHF channel. The encyclopedia entry for the parent lists two sisters only: a radio station on 95.0 and this news channel. The international catalog gives the record as BTVNews.kh, country KH, category news, adult flag false and a website on its own news domain - and nothing else: no launch date, no closing date, no owner and no alternative names.

The parent is documented far better. It broadcasts in Khmer from 06:00 to midnight, holds analogue UHF channel 27 in the capital plus a position in high definition on a direct-to-home platform, and carries its picture as 576i in PAL and standard definition and 1080i in high definition. Its headquarters are at Phum Russei Sraoh, Sangkat Nirouth, Khan Chbar Ampov in Phnom Penh; the operator is Bayon High Media System. The name honours a twelfth-century king whose temple gave the brand its word, the ident music is the national anthem, and the first mark of 1998 was an oval in the colours of the flag.

The news operation itself lives mostly online. The catalog's own playlist entry for BTVNews.kh@SD is labelled 720p and grouped under News, but the address it publishes answers with an error saying the test configuration is not found, and the whole host returns the same answer on every path including its root. Measured instead on the channel's video archive: 48 089 items, 81 113 724 views and about 296 thousand followers since 1 August 2019.
