Bruzz online television
Bruzz is the single brand of Vlaams-Brusselse Media, the Dutch-language public media house of the Brussels-Capital Region in Belgium. It is not one service but five under one name: a radio station, a television channel, a city newspaper, a magazine and a news website. The television side started on 15 September 1993 as TV Brussel, launched from the Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg, and the radio side began in 2000 as FM Brussel, a student station attached to RITCS that grew into a round-the-clock city radio with a nine-year licence granted on 19 December 2003. Both took the common name on 20 April 2016.
The funding and remit are documented precisely. The station is non-commercial and fully structurally subsidised by the Flemish Community and the Flemish Community Commission, and its declared audiences are three: residents of Brussels, residents of the Flemish Periphery, and the so-called Brussels users, meaning people who work or study in the city without living in it. Five programming duties are listed: report on social, political and cultural current affairs, take an active part in city life, support Dutch-language initiatives, give space to small-scale projects run by residents, and build a bridge towards other cultures and other language communities. The editorial office sits in the Flagey building at Eugene Flageyplein 18 in Elsene.
Carriage is published as cable and internet television through Telenet, SFR, Proximus and VOO, with radio on 98.8 MHz reaching as far as Leuven, Mechelen and Aalst.
