Brevard County Government Access TV online television

Brevard County Government Access TV is the government access cable channel of Brevard County, Florida, run by the county Communications Office under the name Space Coast Government Television (SCGTV) from the Government Center at 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way in Viera. The office keeps a channel on the air twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, writes and distributes press releases, arranges media interviews for county departments and looks after the county website, with the stated aim of giving residents better access to local government information.

On air the channel carries live coverage of the Board of County Commissioners meetings, recorded sessions of municipal councils across the Space Coast, public service announcements and programming from The Florida Channel. Its video on demand list covers a dozen partners, among them the city councils of Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Titusville and West Melbourne, the Barefoot Bay meetings, the Save Our Indian River Lagoon series, Helping Seniors of Brevard and The Florida Historical Society. A copy of any broadcast can be ordered on DVD for three dollars, on a flash drive or as a cloud link.

The county itself runs on a commission manager model with five commissioners elected from single member districts for staggered four year terms, and Florida sunshine rules keep those sessions open to the public.
