NDR Fernsehen International does not exist as a separate television channel. NDR Fernsehen is a regional public television channel based in Hamburg, Germany, serving the states of Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Hamburg, and Bremen . The channel launched on January 4, 1965, and is one of seven regional "third programmes" offered by the ARD network . It is operated by Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) in cooperation with Radio Bremen .

On air, NDR Fernsehen features a mix of regional news bulletins, documentaries, talk shows, cultural programming, and entertainment. The flagship news programs include NDR Aktuell and the nightly Hamburg Journal for the Hamburg region, Nordmagazin for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen 19:30 for Lower Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein Magazin for Schleswig-Holstein . The channel also simulates the main 8:00 PM edition of the national news program Tagesschau, which is produced by NDR on behalf of ARD .
